Mailo Solar Plant Fully Energised This Week

We are pleased to share that the Mailo Solar Plant — formerly known as Serenje Solar — has been fully energised this week, marking a major milestone in Zambia’s clean energy transition.

The plant was officially renamed Mailo in recognition of the local Mailo Chiefdom and the invaluable role the community and traditional leadership have played throughout the project’s development.

With an installed capacity of 25 MW, Mailo Solar is now supplying clean, reliable power to the national grid, supporting Zambia’s growing energy needs and climate objectives. This marks the completion of Phase One of a planned 100 MW development, with construction of Phase Two commencing shortly.

Our Deputy CEO – West Africa, Monie Captan, and our Country Manager, Mulenga Kaenga, recently visited the site to mark this important achievement. A video from their visit is available below.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all our partners, teams, and the Mailo community for making this possible — a true testament to what can be achieved through collaboration and shared purpose.
