Emergency Oxygen Relief During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Amid the peak of the pandemic in Zambia, the country was facing a variety of risks, including severe shortages in oxygen supplies. These shortages, exacerbated by market price fluctuations, magnified the impact of the pandemic and led to a public health crisis. Hospitals were unable to attend to and treat critical COVID-19 patients, resulting in operational, credit, and reputational risks.
Mitigating these risks is fundamental to the short, medium, and long-term success of our business. Upon being informed, Petrodex immediately mobilized a dedicated task team from its most senior workforce to address the oxygen shortage.
After swiftly identifying an oxygen supply source in Dubai, Petrodex promptly procured empty cannisters, filled them with oxygen, and redirected them to Lusaka, Zambia’s capital. Within a span of 35 days, Petrodex chartered 12 dedicated aircrafts, each carrying approximately 60 tons of oxygen cannisters, along with other sanitary accessories and supplies that were in short supply.
Petrodex is committed to leveraging its core competencies to assist in natural or humanitarian crises and charitable causes.
